About WellnessCheck

Why I’m Building This

My name is Charles Stricklin. I’m a Navy veteran, and I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what it means to live independently—and what it costs to lose that independence.

The senior safety market is full of products that treat older adults like problems to be managed. Wearable pendants. Call centers staffed by strangers. Systems are designed around fear rather than dignity.

I want something different.

WellnessCheck is an iPhone app being built on a simple idea: the people who should know you’re okay are the people who already care about you. Sons. Daughters. Sisters. Brothers, Friends. Neighbors. Not a call center. Not a stranger reading from a script. Your care circle.

What I Believe

Independence isn’t a phase to be managed—it’s a life worth protecting. The goal isn’t to monitor seniors. It’s to help them stay connected to the people who matter, on their own terms.

Privacy is non-negotiable. Your data belongs to you. Full stop.

Dignity comes first. Every design decision I make starts with one question: Does this respect the person using it?

About Stricklin Development

WellnessCheck is being built by Stricklin Development, LLC, a veteran-owned business and single-member LLC from my adopted home of San Antonio, Texas. I handle the design, development, and everything in between.

I’m not backed by venture capital. I’m not trying to build the next killer app. I’m trying to build something that helps other people like me—and to do it right the first time.

I could use help

Perhaps you’re a coder familiar with iOS, Android, Xcode, HealthKit, Firebase, Core Motion, HealthKit, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, JSON… In other words, you eat-drink-sleep code. I could use your help to bring this to fruition.

If you’re a solo dweller facing challenges, particularly, but not necessarily, seniors, and would be willing to a beta-tester, please apply?

The same goes with lawyers, nurse practitioners, doctors, caregivers, technical writers, or just someone good at writing. I could always use help and advice.
